The old website was not bringing in work

Greg Major runs TreeRex Tree Management, a team of arborists working across the Hills District and Greater Sydney. The business does tree removal, pruning, stump grinding, emergency work and commercial vegetation management.

Greg’s old website was a one-page Wix site that someone else had built for him. It was online, but it was not doing anything for the business. In Greg’s words, it got him no leads.

That is a common problem for trade businesses. People hear about you from a neighbour or see your truck, then they look you up. If the website looks thin or out of date, they keep looking. Commercial clients move on even faster, because they need to trust you with bigger jobs and bigger sites.

TreeRex works for homeowners, strata managers, builders, councils and commercial sites, so the website had to speak to all of them without getting complicated. The brief was to make TreeRex look like the established, capable business it is, get it found on Google, and make it easy for the right people to ask for a quote.

A website that brings in no leads is not a cheap website. Every person who checked TreeRex out and moved on was a job that went to someone else.

The approach

From a one-page site to a website that wins work

The old site was a single page. It had a strong look, but it gave people almost nothing to go on and no easy way to ask for a quote. We rebuilt it from the ground up as a WordPress website and launched it in November 2024.

Before

A one-page Wix site built by someone else.

A first screen with a logo over a full-screen image and no headline.

No individual service pages for Google to find.

A side tab as the only way to ask for a quote.

No leads, in Greg’s words.

After

A WordPress site with ten main pages.

A clear headline, service area and quote form on the first screen.

Six service pages plus a commercial vegetation management page.

A quote form that asks for the job address and accepts photos.

88 form enquiries, plus phone calls.

Design
A business you can trust with a big jobReal arborist photography, a clear structure and a professional feel from the first screen, so a homeowner or a site manager can see straight away that TreeRex is an established business.
Structure
A page for every serviceResidential tree removal, commercial tree removal, tree trimming and pruning, stump grinding, tree care and emergency tree work each have their own page. In October 2025 we added a page for vegetation management and fire trail maintenance, written for councils, developers and commercial property owners.
Conversion
A quote form beside the main headlineThe form sits on the first screen of the home page and again on the contact page. It asks for the job address and lets people attach photos, so Greg can often price a job before he goes out.
Search
Clear enough for Google and AI toolsSearch engine optimisation was built in from the start, as it is on every site we build. The pages are written so Google, and now tools like ChatGPT, can understand exactly what TreeRex does and where.

AfterThe new TreeRex home page built by JS Website DesignThe new first screen. A clear headline, the service area and a quote form that accepts photos.
BeforeThe rest of the old one-page TreeRex websiteThe rest of the old page. Two short paragraphs, three links and a side tab for quotes, with nothing about individual services.
What changed

Every service now has its own page, so people searching for tree removal, pruning, stump grinding or emergency work land on a page about exactly that.

The commercial work is spelt out plainly, which is what large clients look for before they pick up the phone.

Asking for a quote takes a minute, and more than half of all enquiries now arrive with photos attached.

The new site went live in November 2024. The first genuine enquiry came through eleven days later.

The results

More than $100,000 of work from one website

The figure that matters most is the one Greg tracks himself. Since the new website launched, it has brought in more than $100,000 of work for TreeRex. That is more than twenty times what the website cost to build.

The first big job came quickly. Not long after launch, a commercial client chose TreeRex for a $10,000 job. When Greg asked why, they told him the website looked professional and that was why they went with him.

Bigger clients are now finding TreeRex

The more recent enquiries show where the business is heading.

A large civil construction company was looking for an arborist and asked ChatGPT for a recommendation. ChatGPT recommended TreeRex and pointed them to the website. They looked through the site, then picked up the phone and called Greg. TreeRex is now tendering for a six-figure job with them.

A large mining company also reached out through the website about upcoming work. Greg has submitted his tender, and the job could be worth up to $500,000. It has not been decided yet.

Found through ChatGPT

When someone asks an AI tool who to call, it reads websites to decide. A clear, well-structured site gave ChatGPT everything it needed to recommend TreeRex, and that recommendation turned into a six-figure tender.

Greg is clear that none of these opportunities would have come from his old website.

Enquiries are growing as the site settles in. In the last twelve months the website brought in 52 enquiries, compared with 36 in its first eleven months, which is 44% more.

The site does not rely on big traffic numbers. It gets around 150 visits a month, and roughly one in every 40 visits turns into an enquiry. That is what happens when the right people land on a website that answers their questions and makes it easy to ask for a quote.

The right kind of enquiries

Most enquiries are the residential work TreeRex was built on: tree removals, pruning, hedges, palms and stump grinding. They come from right across Sydney, including the Hills District, the North Shore, the Inner West, the Northern Beaches, St George, the Hawkesbury and Western Sydney. Alongside those, the website brings in work a basic site rarely attracts.

A schoolA large gum tree on a school campus that needed attention
A scout campAn arborist report for a camp site
Strata and retirement livingTrees on strata properties and in a retirement village
Building sitesSite managers and property managers needing trees dealt with
Arborist reportsReports for council approvals and knock-down rebuilds
Fire breaksBushland clearing behind homes for fire protection

More than half of all enquiries arrive with photos or documents attached, which means Greg can quote faster and with fewer wasted site visits.

Found on Google for urgent work

The site appears on page one of Google for searches like "emergency tree removal sydney" and "emergency tree services sydney", the kind of searches people make when a tree is already down.

Enquiry figures are Elementor form submissions on treerex.com.au from 19 November 2024 to 30 September 2026, from all traffic sources, with launch tests, sales pitches and one double submission removed. The revenue figure, the first-month job, the tenders and the result from the previous Wix site are Greg’s own. Search positions are Google Search Console averages for July to September 2026.

Why it worked

What made the difference

Three things, and none of them are complicated.

1
The website makes TreeRex look like a business you can trust with a big job.A $10,000 commercial job was won on the strength of the website, and that same professional first impression is what large civil and mining companies see when they check TreeRex out.
2
The quote form does the heavy lifting. It sits right beside the main headline, asks for the job address and lets people attach photos. More than half of all enquiries now arrive with photos, which saves Greg time on every quote.
3
The site is clear enough for Google and AI tools to recommend. Each service has its own page and the commercial work is spelt out plainly. When a civil company asked ChatGPT for an arborist, the website gave it everything it needed to recommend TreeRex. It is the same thinking behind our SEO for tradies.

Word of mouth now runs through the website too. Several enquiries mention a friend, a neighbour or a local Facebook group who recommended Greg. Those people still checked the website before getting in touch, and it gave them a reason to go ahead.

Next step

If your website is not bringing in enquiries, it is not a small problem. It means the people checking you out after a referral, a Google search or an AI recommendation are choosing someone else.

We will look at your website, your rankings and your Google Business Profile, and tell you plainly what is holding it back and what it is costing you.

If you are in a trade, you can also see what goes into our websites for tradies.
